Between the years 1845-1849 the whole of Ireland was in the grip of the great famine caused by a deadly disease which struck the potato crop. Hunger and fever killed over a million people and caused another two million to emigrate to America and Canada.
Based on a true story, Days of Hunger, follows the struggle of a family who lioved near Kilrea in Mid Ulster.

Stories from West Cork, Mayo and Donegal are told courtesy of the Coleraine Chronicle.
The Famine Pit at Skibbereen, was said to have held over 9,000 bodies, and true stories from that time are still a part of local life.

Famine weddings, funerals, evictions, emigration and real video pictures of the blighted potatoes, make Days of Hunger a history lesson not to be missed.
